FINALLY....

we have green grass! It has been sooo long since we have seen the ground without SNOW!! I think spring is here to stay now (I hope)!! Right now at 6:50 PM it is the sunniest it has been all day, it has rained all day here in Waukee. We had some pretty good downpours today, with thunder and all!

Makes me happy to see green grass, can't wait to get outside!!

Haydn is 2!!

We started the day by going to the YMCA. Haydn took some cupcakes to share with friends there. When Wes got home from work she opened her gifts from us. She got a new puzzle, Dora and boots bouncy ball and new toddler crayons. We had cupcakes and ice cream tonight. She enjoyed us singing to her, we sang to her at the Y today, so she had got a lot of attention the past few days. She LOVES her bouncy ball, and I knew she would. Stella got a Spongebob one for her b-day. Haydn and Stella were fighting over who would ride it.

Happy Birthday, Joan!! Haydn shares a Birthday with Joan!! Wes had these sheets when he was a little boy! Hannah found them and wanted them on her bed yesterday!! When Hannah saw them in the closet, she knew it was the Dukes! Joan, now you can't come steal them from her/Wes!!

Doodlebops

We went to the Doodlebops today. I took the girls to Valley West Mall week and half ago on family fun night. While the girls were coloring a picture I signed up to win a free bike or doodlebop tickets. Well a day or two later Star 102.5 called me and I won the doodlebop tickets. Neither one of the girls are into the doodlebops but we went, free tickets. I got on line to see where our seats were and tickets were $75.00! CRAZY! I don't think I could ever pay that much for something that either one of them were actually into. We had a good time. Didn't really know any of the songs but Haydn was up dancing. Not sure if Hannah was just tired from Haydn's b-day party the night before but she didn't get into it as much as Haydn! We have pretty good seats for being free.

Haydn's birthday part 1

Haydn celebrated her b-day last night with my side of the family. Davidson's, mom and dad, Mark and Ken and Marcia were there. We ordered pizza went swimming at mom and dad's hotel. Was a lot of fun. I think the adults had as much fun as the kids. I know the kids slept well last night after all the swimming. Haydn didn't wake up until 8:50 this morning. Hannah and Stella stayed at the hotel last night and even got to swim this morning too. Today we are going to the Doodlebops. I won tickets in a drawing at Valley West Mall. So that will be fun. Tomorrow we will let Haydn open her gifts from us and then on the 19th she and Eliott are having a combined party together with Wes's side of the family.

When she grows up....

Hannah had career day yesterday and today at school. The teachers outlined them on butcher paper and then they colored themselves in. Hannah wants to be a Doctor!! Never would of thought she would pick that, but maybe in 30 years I can live off of her!!

New Maid

Haydn LOVES to vacuum!! She unlike Hannah has never been scared of the vacuum!! She loves to help, the actual vacuum weighs more than her, so I usually let her "help" with the dirt devil. Hannah was scared when she was younger, Haydn's age or even younger! Hannah loves to swiffer the floors. I love when my house is clean. But by the time supper is over tonight, I am sure Haydn will have a mess on the floor! It is only clean for a short while. The only reason to get a dog, to clean up after the girls at mealtime.

Winter or Spring...???

This afternoon while cleaning the house I look out and it is snowing big time!! What the hell??? So of course Hannah wants to take her umbrella out in the rain/snow along with wearing her mittens!! Now as time has passed, snow is actually accumulated on the ground! Crazy winter just won't give us a break!!

Face Painting

I took the girls to Valley West Mall tonight for "family fun night". It is the last Tues of each month. We had never gone before. Something different and free activities! They had temporary tattoos, craft type projects, face painting, big blow up slides, etc. Hannah wanted her face painted so waited in line I bet for 30 min from start to finish! Both girls did great while waiting! Haydn got a butterfly on her hand rather than her face, figured she wouldn't like someone touching her face, and this way Haydn could see the end product!!

Easter in Mt Ayr

The girls and I went to Mt Ayr on Friday afternoon. Mom was in Des Moines on Tues of that week, so she took the girls on down with her. Hannah was on spring break this past week from preschool! It was nice to have a break, I know the girls and mom and dad have fun with them alone. I went over with Wes bowling on Wed night. Thurs nite I had supper with Joan and Bridget. I worked Wed and Friday. Thurs was a relaxing day for me! Got a few project done around here without the girls help!!

Saturday we went up to the Court House in Mt Ayr for an Easter egg hunt. Cold but the girls had a good time. Today went to church and the Easter bunny came to mom and dad's! The girls along with Stella got to dye Easter eggs too. So they probably feel like they have been on a vacation! Back to reality tomorrow!!

rainy St Patrick's Day

Well I am bummed, I had the thought of taking the girls down to the St Patrick's day parade today at noon, but with 80% chance of rain, I decided not to. Well we had a fun weekend. Mom stayed here both Friday and Saturday nights. We did some errands Saturday morning, we are reorganizing the basement, making a little space for a toy area. We got rid of the computer desk and big computer. Spent some of our tax return on a laptop!! We bought some shelves at Menards and Wes hung them yesterday. So it is coming around. Saturday night we had Stella's 3rd b-day party. Was a fun night. Al the little girls that were there, got to frost cupcakes, mom made them aprons as party favors. Was cute!! Stella got a lot of nice things!!

This coming weekend we will be going to MA for Easter, been a few years since we have been in MA for Easter, two yrs ago Haydn was born , then last year was her 1st b-day party the same weekend as Easter.

Feels like Spring

Well it has been a busy week in our household. Monday night Wes was gone to his first city council meeting. They are trying to raise the speed limit here on 6th Street to 35, well it is currently 25 but I don't think ANYONE has EVER gone the speed limit! Well unless a cop is sitting there waiting to catch them. Well after 45 min they got the council convinced to keep it at 25, in two years they are building a new elementary school across the street from us, so why raise it then have to lower it back in 2 yrs! Last night I went out for my monthly supper with Amy and Joan. Always a good time to catch up with them. Tonight Wes is bowling. Tomorrow night I am eating supper with Joan and Bridget. Mom is spending the night with us on Friday and Saturday nights. Stella is celebrating her 3rd b-day on Sat. I am looking forward to her party myself!

The girls have had a chance to play outside yesterday and today. Nice days, just a little wet out. I vacuumed my van out today along with washing it! I had vacuumed it ALL winter.

Not sure what next week is going to be like weather wise but lets hope spring is around the corner!!

My Birthday!!

Today is my 33rd birthday. I went out to breakfast with Marcia, Wes and Haydn. Hannah was at school. I did not tell her what we were doing for she would of been mad and not wanted to go to preschool. Instead of Wes giving me a present he took the day off from work. Marcia and I then went shopping, that was fun. I dropped her off at her house then ran to Kohl's to spend some b-day money but then decided to wait and buy some spring/summer clothes rather than winter clearance clothes. Ran to Kayren's to get my b-day gift. Got to see Stella and Porter. Stopped at the grocery store and then came home. Everyone one was napping so was quiet in the house. Wes is making beef and noodles for supper. Once Hannah wakes up, (it is 4:30) we are going to Dairy Queen to pick out an ice cream cake for me. Hannah wants to pick it out, so I am sure it will be barbie, Dora or something to the nature!! Wes and I are going to a Kindergarten meeting tonight at 6:30, Marcia will be here for supper and then watch the girls for an hour or so!!

So it has been a good day!!

Space helmet

This past week was space week at school. Here she is "sporting" her space helmet. She also had her FIRST parent/teacher conferences. She is doing great. She was evaluated in Sept and then again in Jan. She is making strides in her work. At the beginning of the year she could barely write her first name, now she can write her first and last name. She can also recognize letters on paper or by sight. It is fun to see her progress.

Saturday Outing

Since today was nice and it is coming up on my birthday we went on a road trip to Williamsburg today. Went shopping at outlet mall. I got 4 new tops for myself and the girls both got a new spring/summer outfit. Wes didn't get anything this time. We then headed into IA City to drive around. I had not seen the new football stadium since the renovations in 2006. Was a nice day here in IA was in the lower 40's, so we have a lot of snow melting. YEAH!! Thursday is my 33rd birthday. Hannah had a kindergarten meeting for parents. So we will be attending that, it is at 6:30 PM, can't think it will be longer than an hour. Not much else planned for the week. I hope spring is around the corner!

Milestone

Hannah has not wet her night time diaper for almost a month now. On Sunday night we decided to let her wear underwear to bed. She had woke up the past two days DRY! Yeah!!

FREEZING!!!

I don't even remember what warm weather feels like!! HA!! I don't think this winter is ever going to end!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!! Hannah wasn't feeling well last night, didn't sleep well either but did go to preschool, today she took treats. Tomorrow I read to her class, I am looking forward to that. We have no big plans for the night that I am aware of. Wes is going to Council Bluffs for bowling tourney this weekend so the girls and I might head to MA for different scenery!!

Weekend!!!

Wes took the girls to Mt Ayr on Friday night. I was staying here because I had people coming for items I had sold on Craigslist, plus mom will be here Monday night to stay the night. I lounged around Friday night. Saturday morning, I cleaned the house and FINALLY showered at 1:00ish. LOVE IT!! Watched tv all afternoon and then meet Joan, Joel, Amy and Grant for supper Sat night. Had a good time with them. Even went to Kohl's and Valley West for some shopping before meeting for supper. Was fun to leisurely look around and try thing on. Sunday, I went grocery shopping and that is about it! Just enjoying the rest of my time alone!

Hannah celebrates her 1/2 b-day on Tues at school so she is taking treats and then on Thurs too. I am reading to her class on Friday so that will be fun to see her in her enviroment!

SNOW, SNOW and more SNOW!

Will this winter ever end! We are having yet another snow storm here in Waukee today. At least we aren't in SE IA for they are to get 11 plus inches!! We are 5-9 inches, still a lot but could be worse. Not much new to report with the girls. Hannah is getting to the age where she gets into EVERY holiday. I am sure going to preschool helps her be ware of them. Today she made her Valentine Day's box. so she takes v-day cards for all 22 classmates. She got a lot of practice writing her name. She chose Hannah Montana v-day cards! Haydn, is Haydn, she doesn't miss a beat, whatever Hannah is doing she will try! She is talking more and more, and you can actually carry on a small conversation with her.

Not a whole lot new with us, since it has been SOOO cold here in Iowa we are inside a lot! Today, though was nice so Hannah rode her bike while I went on a walk. Then she came home and Wes played with her outside. On the sled and then she made her first snowman!!

Weekend in Mt Ayr

we went down to Mt Ayr this weekend. Wes is in the midst of making a bean bag game (aka cornhole) anyway we don't own a sewing machine (yes, shock of all shocks HA!) So mom helped him. Wes did sew a few and realized sewing is not for him!!! We went and ate supper in Clearfield and Mickey D's! Then headed to Diagonal's bb game and it was homecoming! The girls and boys both lost but was a good game to watch for such a small school! They have no HS girls to cheerlead so the elementary girls do it. Well Hannah and Haydn both found their way to the gym floor during timeouts. Hannah didn't know the cheers but had fun with the other girls. I got a new camera for x-mas but still do not know how to download the photos yet. But will post some photos from the weekend later!!

Happy Tuesday!

Well now that I have been working at the YMCA for over a year, we are finally utilizing our membership more. We went swimming last Wed night for the first time as a family. Was a lot of fun. So today when Haydn woke up I took the girls. Hannah is getting a lot more use to the water, will actually put her head in the water. So my goal is to go once a week. Haydn has NO fear of the water. Walks in the water my herself! The water was a little cold today, but if you keep moving then it isn't so bad. The swim team had practice while we were there. We were in the locker room the same time as the HS girls! Hannah was watching their every move! I am sure I was as dorky as they are when I was their age, minus the cell phones though!!

Hannah went back to preschool today. She had a great time seeing her friends again. They are at a new church so they have some new toys along with the old ones. Hannah enjoyed playing kitchen today, is what she told me.

Back to routine.....

Well now that Christmas and New Year's is over.....we are going to finally be back into a routine, which I think is good for all of us! Hannah starts back to school on Tuesday. She is moving preschools for those of you that don't know. The lease was up at the Methodist Church here in Waukee. So they moved to Point of Grace, on Hickman (Hwy 6). So further drive for us, but not much, really! It was nice though this fall on nice days, we would walk to and from but no longer will we do that! She is excited now that they had open house on Friday to see the new building. This time of the year is REALLY busy at the YMCA! With all those new years resolutions!! So now until probably February we will be busy in childwatch!! It either makes the 2 hrs go really fast or I can't wait to get my shift done!!! HA!!

So looking forward to getting back into our "normal" routine!!
