A true sign of summer...
in my opinion. One of my fondest memories growing up was playing in the playhouse and Grandma Rene bringing strawberries to our playhouse. She was our neighbor and had the best garden of anyone I will probably EVER know! Hannah LOVES, LOVES strawberries. Each year I think I should plant a patch and never have. I could save myself SO much $$$. I only buy them when they are on sale so it is a special treat for her. Luckily for Hannah, Haydn doesn't like them. I bought 4 lbs today. If I would let Hannah, she would eat them all today. At least it is something healthy she loves!! Here is a picture of Hannah doing what she does best, eating strawberries!!

Porter is 2
Tonight we celebrated Porter's birthday. He enjoyed opening his gifts. Anna Leigh and I gave him a bat and ball. Boy, did he love that. He is really good at hitting the ball off the tee. We all had a fun time helping him celebrate his birthday. Kayren had made a cake that looks like a baseball but I didn't think to get a picture of it, but it was very cute.

Last Day at HTP
Today was Hannah's last day of preschool. They went to a park in Waukee to play. It was a cool morning but it was fun for the kids to run around. One teacher brought a soccer ball to kick around. I was busy taking pictures of Hannah and her friends and the next thing I know Haydn has fallen off the rock wall. Boy, did that scare me. She landed on her back. She immediately started crying and I rushed over to her. It knocked the wind out of her, she didn't play the rest of the time but she is feeling better now. I am sure her back still hurts so I will give her some Tylenol before she takes her nap.
Hard to believe Hannah is done with preschool. I will truly miss her teachers I have gotten to know them so well over the past 2 years.

Happy Time Preschool Graduation
Hannah had Graduation today! The ceremony was very sweet I (along with mom) started crying when the class was walking in! Down hill from there. The class sang a Alphabet song, did a Name Scramble and a Number Line-Up just to name a few. A few of the songs had actions to them like jumping rope and jump and jacks. They wore Graduation hats they had made. While they were presented their diplomas, Pomp and Circumstance was playing in the background!
Came back home and had lunch. She wanted Steak (she loves steak!) told her I wasn't the best with the grill, so she decided on Subway. Nana made her Graduation cupcakes for dessert! Very cute. She had to show Grandma and Nana right away that she can ride her bike with NO help!! It has been a very fun day for her. Thursday is her last day of school. They go to school for awhile and then head to a park to play and snack time. The school year has flown by for me. Won't be long until she is a Senior and doing this all again!! I am looking forward to the next 13 years with her.

New Trick
Hannah learned how to ride her bike last Fall without her training wheels. She has only rode her bike a number of times so far this spring. I think she has been afraid of falling. She didn't know how to turn corners or stop/start on her own until TODAY!! YEAH!! I told her the only way she was going to learn was to practice. Told her to make wide turns in driveways. She got the hang of turning VERY quickly. Then she decided on her own to practice starting on her own. She is VERY proud of herself, so am I!!! Here are some action pictures of her from today.

Mother's Day 2009
Happy Mother's Day to all you moms. Wes took the girls shopping last night after supper. They were gone for 1.5 hrs. I enjoyed watching Ace of Cakes (love that show). When they got back they went straight downstairs to put my gifts in a gift bag. When they came up Wes said that he was giving me my gift then for the girls wouldn't be able to keep a secret! I got a bouquet of fresh flowers, new PJ's, DVD of 13 going on 30 (Hannah's favorite movie right now). Wes said when they were checking out at Target Hannah spotted the movie, it was $5.00 so Wes bought it, Hannah thought I would enjoy it!! How special!! Today we went out for breakfast at Perkins, I love chocolate chip pancakes. Hannah and I ran into Hy-Vee later and bought flowers to plant in my flower pots (this is I believe our 3 yr of doing this together on Mother's day). Hannah helped pick out flowers and we also bought so new plants for the landscaping out front, we need a splash of color with all the green. So it has been a fun day. Great weather to be outside.
